DIY Paper Collages for Junk Journaling

Watch this relaxing video by #JunkTheJournal as she creates beautiful
paper collages for junk journaling. The music is so soothing, and we
just can't get enough of this style of journaling! We're binge watching!

This is a fantastic happy mail idea. What journaler or paper crafter wouldn't LOVE to receive a little envelope full of these collage clusters?

Start off by sticking random bits of paper together. The ones shown in the video vary from 1/2 inch by 2 inches to around 2x2 inches. You could even go up to 3x3 inches, if you like. What makes these clusters so interesting is the variety of paper textures and the variation of colors and types of things that are printed on them (music, words, etc.) Remember to use some papers that are completely blank.

Top your little cluster with a word or phrase, and fasten the cluster together. You could use a stapler or a brad to do this, or use a hole punch and a hole reinforcer in a contrasting color.

Add some string for interest. Get a large needle and thread it with your favorite color of twine, or just use simple packaging twine or plain white kitchen string. Sew a few stitches in an interesting pattern. If you don't like to sew you could simply tie a piece of string or twine in the hole that you punched.

If you want to send some of these embellishment clusters to your pen pal, make a cute little coin envelope from brown baking parchment and decorate it by layering scraps of different papers on it. or print one of these pretty vintage seed envelopes.

These little collage clusters are great to use as a page starter in your journal, or use them to make tags!
